1981 Honda CX500
Full custom build
Completely new rear frame setup, seat,
Modified tank and one off side panels.
Rear shocks are yss.
Front end is fully adjustable usd forks from a Honda cbr600rr with radial calipers and twin 320mm discs, using Honda comstar style wheels with matching 18” diameters.
Engine- full rebuild all consumables replaced.
New piston rings, big end shells and the crank shaft polished.
The Valves and seats recut buy machinist, new valve seals.
All bearings, gaskets and o-rings replaced from David silver.
New clutch discs and heavy springs.
Mechanical seal replaced.
Starter clutch springs replaced.
All engine casings were vapour blasted and those in black then powder coated.
Electrics- Completely new and simplified wiring loom, new switch gear and lights all round. Updated stator with usb aux sockets under the seat. Ignitech CDI unit with tuneable spark timing.
Koso combined digital speedo and tachometer mounted into the top yoke.
Fuelling comes from a brand new set of
Mikuni VM34 carbs that have been tuned specifically for the cx500 by Murray Feldman.
Breathing through a one off 2 into 2 stainless set of headers with one off pair of stainless end cans giving a nice deep exhaust note.

Since the build the bike has had 1600 trouble free miles on it.
Mechanically the bike is perfect the Only thing that lets the bike down aesthetically is some bubbling on the tank and a couple of scratches in the paint on the tank, see pics.
Bike is 40 years old on the V5 this year making it eligible for historic vehicle status meaning no annual vehicle tax to pay, no mot needed (current mot is until Jan 2022) and is exempt from all ulez charges in London and elsewhere
