1992 BMW R80RT Custom. Only covered 26000 miles from new. 12 months MOT.
This was one of the later models of R80 with twin Brembo front disc brakes and upgraded (K75) forks.
I bought the bike as a standard RT 3 years ago from an elderly gentleman who had bought it with 2000 miles on the clock from his BMW mechanic friend who had owned it from new. It was his Sunday best bike and in immaculate condition. He sold it as he was getting too old to ride. I used the bike as a commuter for a couple of years before stripping it of all of the touring bits to make a much simpler, lighter and fun bike to ride (sorry RT purists!)
Work carried out/parts added:
Vonzeti subframe and seat. Renthal handlebars and grips. Hagon rear monoshock. Shorty exhausts with dB killers (louder than stock mufflers but not too offensive). Headers wrapped in titanium exhaust wrap. Acewell CA085-124GS speedo gauge (BMW style face) in CNC housing with custom mounting bracket. Goodridge black stainless steel braided front brake hose. All new cables. Odyssey Extreme PC925 battery. Heidenau K60 Scout dual sport tyres (fitted a year ago, covered 2000 miles – still in good condition with plenty of tread). Modified aluminium mudguards (front currently not fitted but included) New earlier-style rocker covers. LED headlight and taillight. Micro LED indicators. CNC’d aluminium bar-end mirrors. Fork gaiters. Wheels painted satin black. Manual choke conversion with choke lever blanking plate. UltimateAddons Hardwire iPhone charger (hidden under seat).
Bike has had regular full services during the 3 years I have owned it (at 18K, 21K and 24K miles) and has been very well looked after. The previous owner assured me that his BMW mechanic friend took care of the regular servicing for him up until I purchased the bike. I’ve only ever used top quality replacement parts, fluids, filters and fuel. The bike has been used as it was designed to (it is not a show bike), it shows signs of use commensurate with age but is in very good condition for a 27 year old bike. The tank has a few scratches and there are a few small areas of surface rust to the frame that have been rubbed back and touched up.
Comes with 2 keys, original BMW tool kit in tool-roll, file of paperwork (receipts, old MOTs etc.) and a Haynes manual.
Also comes with a Cover-Zone Stormforce all weather protective cover (cost £70).
Many thanks for looking and please contact me if you need any further details or would like to view the bike (in Brighton)
