2007 Honda CRF 450 DTX Converted to DTRA Flat Track Specification

This bike was purchased from Glynn Pocklington by me in early June this year specifically for the remaining 5 rounds of the DTRA Flat Track UK Rookie Championship in which I finished 3rd overall. I’ve also done a couple of practice days at Ryehouse and raced one meeting at Scunthorpe but that’s about it

It was freshly converted by Glynn from a low hours Moto-X bike and is the carb version so no fiddly fuel injection to deal with, starts first or second kick, runs very well and is fast enough to win races that said it’s not an animal as the power delivery is very linear so its actually quite easy to ride fast if you’re not too experienced in Flat Track

Below is a list of what Glynn did as the conversion and the spec (before I bought it) and then a note of a few other things I did (after I got it)

19×2.15 new front wheel on a spool hub – black

Stock rear wheel – black (minor dent in the rim)

New rear wheel bearings

Supersprox rear sprocket and O ring chain

Front forks lowered, seals and oil replaced and set up for Flat Track

New throttle tube

New clutch lever and perch

New Plastics and new Rock Star graphics

Yoshimura Silencer

Billet Clutch cover

Renthal fat bars and clamps

Red silicone water hose kit

Red alloy engine plug / filler kit

Engine oil and filter change and gearbox oil change

New air filter

New spark plug

Valve clearances checked

Rear suspension lowered

Cut out switch fitted

I supplied a new set of the DTRA control tyre Dunlop DT3’s that Glynn fitted – obviously slightly worn now but will easily do another season no problem

I have also fitted a new front exhaust downpipe as the original was dented, new aluminium over sized radiators and a new front sprocket

Spares included: new brake pads, new kick start, original MX radiators and new rear sprocket (around £125’s worth in total)

It’s a good solid bike and would be ideal for anyone thinking of doing Flat Track next year, its good to go, needs nothing doing to it and has had many of the perishable items replaced (bearings etc) so maybe an oil change and she’s good for all of next season

I’ll be honest and say its not mint, there is a small ding in the swinging arm (from its previous life I guess) and it got the odd ‘race rub’ mark, scuff and scrape and signs of use . . it is a competition bike and not a show bike so don’t expect to turn up and expect a minter as its not, but what I can say is its mechanically sound (as far as I’m aware), runs well, goes well, looks well, handles well and is a great bike to ride

I’m only selling it as I’ve done the Rookies and by coming 3rd have to move up to the Inters who race on Saturdays, and as this isn’t an option for me I am going to ride my old Yamaha in the Thunderbikes or maybe my Harley in the Twins Class for 2020 so the 450 is not going to get used now so I’ve decided to let it go as it will do someone a good turn

I’m happy for you to come and have a look but will need you to send me an image of a utility bill and proof of ID before I give you my address, sorry but I don’t want just anyone knowing where I live – alternatively if you ring me I’ll give you my name and you can search me on Facebook, there’s plenty of pictures of me riding it (and other bikes) so you don’t have to view it to be confident, it is what I say it is . . . . the proofs there showing it in action

Now the boring bit:

No overseas bidders

Winning bidder to contact me with 24 hours, pay a £100 deposit on PayPal and the balance by either bank transfer or cash on collection

No swaps or p/x unless you’ve got a Vintage Flat Track bike . . then maybe we can talk

Pleas only bid if you’re genuinely interested and have the funds – I’m happy to have a chat and give you what guidance I can if you’re a ‘newbie’ and thinking of doing Flat Track for the first time, but if you’re a dreamer please don’t waste my time or yours as no money = no bikey!

No Buy-it-now but the reserve is sensible. I’m happy to let the auction run as I am not desperate to sell and as there’s nothing else I’ve seen for sale that’s like my bike there’s no need for me to have to rush to sell it – as I always believe that even if I don’t sell something straight away, it will work out and sell to the right person at the right time, and if it doesn’t sell I’ll just keep it and use it for the odd practice day

Well that’s about it, think I’ve covered everything but if you do have any questions either ring or text me and I’ll happily answer any queries Tim 07803 409450 and finally check out my feedback. I’m a genuine eBayer, not a dealer, am happy that my advert is accurate and gives a true description of my bike so bid with confidence if you decide that my bike is what you want

All the best for 2020 and beyond #666
