This is a 1980 BMW R65 which has been extensively modified into a café racer. The engine mounts have been moved in the frame to shift weight over the front and raise the cylinder heads for more ground clearance, the right hand frame rail has been fitted with frame splices to allow the oil filter to be changed without removing the engine. The frame has been braced with extra frame rails running under the fuel tank to the swinging arm pivot, under the tank there is further bracing arranged in a pyramid. The frame has been stiffened still further with additional gussets and also modified to accept the BMW R80 fuel tank without any mods to the tank. The engine repositioning required a new 2-1 exhaust which was custom fabricated in steel using race style springs to locate it to the cylinder heads. Also included are a San José BMW style fork brace, a hand formed steel seat hump and base with hidden latch, and a pair of billet rear set footrests which have vernier adjustability for the pedal positions, the original lever ratio for the rear brake (so the brake will pass an MOT), and factory brake rod geometry to eliminate “bump brake”. There are carburettors and brakes but those all need rebuilding. I’m selling if because I haven’t had time to touch it in at least 2 years.
