Reluctantly selling my pride and joy, as I’m moving to Japan!
Been working on this since February pretty intensely, the list of jobs were pretty big but the main ones to know are:
– Carburettor clean and service
– refitting clutch springs
– Replacing handle-bars, which led to replacing clutch and brake cables
– Making a bespoke control panel that shows; gear position, headlight, neutral and engine light.
– Making bespoke side panel
– Replace CDI box
I’m really proud of this old bike now, its running really well, the engine sounds looooovely and it can comfortably do 90mph. It’s a very sturdy bike, easy to access most of its parts if needed to and its starter system is really reliable, certainly gets those heads turning on the street. It’s also surprisingly comfortable seen as you can use the passenger foot pegs to get low on the bike when going fast.
The MOT is until July 17th and I’m confident that it will pass without any problems. I’m not really using it, I’ve just been taking it out for a short ride around the block on sunny days, so the mileage may only go up a very small amount.
There’s a few very small dings to the tank but I like the character it adds, you don’t really notice them unless you look close. I’ve also left the tank bare but you can easily spray it however you like.
Logistics, you can either pick up from my parents place in Stoke (but I won’t allow any test rides for obvious reasons, until after payment) or I can drop off pretty much anywhere in the country for 50p per mile. So, Manchester would only be about £13, Sheffield about the same and London about £80.
Finally, I’ve got quite a few extras, like the haynes manual, spare clutch cable, brake fluid, gear fluid, decals and probably a few other bits n bobs I forget.
